Featured Speaker: Tony Mendez, author of Argo, now a hit movie directed by and starring Ben Affleck as Tony, favored to win the Oscar for Best Picture this year. Tony and his wife Jonna, both retired CIA agents, will tell the story behind the book and the movie. As Chief of Disguise at the CIA, Tony engineered and conducted the Canadian caper to rescue six American diplomats from Iran during the hostage crisis. This involved creating an ostensible Hollywood film production company, complete with personnel, scripts, publicity, and real estate in LA. In 1980, Tony was awarded the Intelligence Star for Valor for this operation.
