Event co-chairs, Mari Chazen and Gina Connell, announce Pathways’ 29th annual One from the Heart Awards Breakfast with featured speaker David Corbett.
Co-chairs Mari Chazen and Gina Connell proudly announce Pathways 29th Annual One from the Heart Awards Breakfast to be held October 24, 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Palo Alto from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. The featured speaker is David Corbett.
Pathways’ signature fundraising event, the One from the Heart Award Breakfast, has raised over $6.8 million dollars since its inception. This year’s featured speaker is acclaimed writer David Corbett who currently divides his time between Vallejo and the Norwegian coast. But his life wasn’t always so tranquil. Corbett spent 15 years as a private investigator with the San Francisco firm of Palladino & Sutherland. He played a significant part in high profile criminal and civil litigations, including the Cotton Club Murder Case, the People’s Temple Trial, and many other drug, murder, and fraud cases.
Little wonder Corbett’s six thrillers have won accolades, from The Devil’s Redhead (2002) to his recent The Long-Lost Love Letters of Doc Holliday (2018). Blood of Paradise was a Washington Post “Top Ten Mysteries and Thrillers of 2007,” and Admiral James Stavridis put it on his Southern Command’s reading list. Corbett’s short fiction has appeared in Best American Short Stories and other notable anthologies and journals.
Corbett is in great demand at writing workshops and seminars throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. The Art of Character, his 2013 writing guide, is considered one of the finest ever, and his articles on craft and theory have appeared in the New York Times and Writer’s Digest.
