National Healthcare Decisions Day Event in San Francisco
For Immediate Release:
3.11.15
(San Francisco, CA) – Non-profit Pathways Home Health & Hospice, in partnership with St. Francis Memorial Hospital, will present in Cantonese the importance of advance directive healthcare planning with an educational event at the hospital, Thursday April 16. This is part of a coordinated wave of events across the country for National Healthcare Decisions Day. Pathways is providing free information and tools for the community to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers–and to complete a written advance directive in accordance with California state laws. (This means naming a healthcare power of attorney and completing a living will.)
The free presentation, which includes lunch, will be held from 11 – 2 p.m. in Lower Level Rooms B and C of the hospital at 900 Hyde Street, San Francisco. Reserve a seat by calling Toby Cheung at 650-826-7143. For more information, visit the Resources page at PathwaysHealth.org or nationalhealthcaredecisionsday.org.
“As a result of National Healthcare Decisions Day, many more people in our community will have meaningful conversations with family members about their healthcare wishes and will complete advance directives to make their wishes known,” said Pathways CEO Barbara Burgess. “Fewer families and healthcare providers will have to struggle with difficult healthcare decisions because they don’t have guidance from the patient. And with an advance directive doctors, nurses, and hospitals will be better prepared to honor patient wishes.”
