National Healthcare Decisions Day

For Immediate Release:

National Healthcare Decisions Day

(Sunnyvale, CA) – Sunnyvale based non-profit Pathways Home Health & Hospice will be highlighting the importance of advance directive healthcare planning with an educational event at the Sunnyvale Senior Center on Wednesday April 15. This is part of a coordinated wave of events across the country for National Healthcare Decisions Day. Pathways is providing free information and tools for the community to talk about their wishes with family, friends and healthcare providers–and to complete a written advance directive in accordance with California state laws. (This means naming a healthcare power of attorney and completing a living will.)

The presentation is from 1 – 2 pm in the Laurel Room of the senior center at 550 East Remington Drive. Reserve a seat at 408-730-7361. For more information, visit Resources at or

“As a result of National Healthcare Decisions Day, many more people in our community will have thoughtful conversations with family members about their healthcare wishes and will complete advance directives to make their wishes known,” said Pathways CEO Barbara Burgess. “Fewer families and healthcare providers will have to struggle with difficult healthcare decisions because they don’t have guidance from the patient. And with an advance directive doctors, nurses, and hospitals will be better prepared to honor patient wishes.”
