Pathways Foundation Board Chair Mark Kelsey to Receive Leadership in Healthcare Philanthropy Award

On October 29, 2016, at the Silver Anniversary of its signature fundraising event, the One from the Heart Awards Breakfast, Pathways will honor Foundation Board Chair Mark Kelsey’s years of service with the Leadership in Healthcare Philanthropy Award. Mark and Kathy Kelsey were introduced to Pathways in 2001 when they became caregivers for a beloved Santa Clara neighbor who received hospice service from Pathways. “We would not have been able to care for her without them,” Mark recalled. After she passed away, Kathy and I decided to become more involved with Pathways. The idea of a hospital without walls made good sense to us after we saw the benefits of the gentle, loving care she had received.”

“Since joining the Pathways Foundation Board in 2001, Mark has generously shared his remarkable relationship-building and financial management skills,” said Pathways CEO Barbara Burgess. “Mark’s rare understanding, on a deeply human level, of Pathways’ patients and families coupled with an uncanny ability to determine what objectives the Foundation should pursue in the fast-changing world of healthcare, enable the Foundation to achieve essential fundraising goals. He deserves our heartfelt thanks for sharing his many talents with us over the years. We look forward to working with Mark far into the future.”

“During Mark’s years of service as Foundation Board Chair, we have all benefitted immensely from his guidance and expertise,” said President of Philanthropy Sandra Coolidge. “His sound judgment never fails to guide us, even in the difficult economic situations that all non-profits have faced in recent years. We are grateful for this opportunity to honor Mark.”

“Pathways appreciates both Mark and Kathy for their involvement with our One from the Heart Breakfast, which has raised over $5 million for essential Pathways programs. We are indeed fortunate that we have been able to count on both of them over the years,” added Coolidge.
