Pathways Home Health & Hospice Joins #GivingTuesday Annual Holiday Encourages Local Charitable Giving
Sunnyvale, CA — November 26, 2014 – Pathways Home Health & Hospice is joining #GivingTuesday on December 2, 2014. This national movement was created to encourage people to take action and improve their communities by giving to local charities and causes. This online event, celebrated the Tuesday after the Thanksgiving Holiday, coincides with the kickoff of the holiday shopping season. #GivingTuesday is to charitable giving as Black Friday is to shopping and Cyber Monday is to online commerce.
The goal of #GivingTuesday is to promote the idea that the holidays can be about both giving and giving back. It celebrates generosity of spirit and people coming together to improve their communities, one donation at a time.
“Pathways is located in the middle of Silicon Valley so it makes sense that we would participate in this new way to translate social media communication into giving to local charities,” said Karen Krueger, Director of Development. “#GivingTuesday wants to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.”
#GivingTuesday gained steam with the support of the United Nations Foundation and other founding partners. More than more than 10,000 organizations have joined the movement and are providing creative ways for people to embrace #GivingTuesday and collaborate in their giving efforts to create more meaningful results.
