The general community is invited by Pathways Home Health & Hospice to its annual Celebration of Light Memorial Service every year in December at Skylawn Memorial Park, off of Highway 92 at Skyline Boulevard, San Mateo, California. This year’s Celebration of Light is Sunday, Dec. 11.
The dark of winter and the upcoming holiday season can seem cold and lonely for those who are grieving. Community members who attend the Pathways Hospice Celebration of Light Memorial Service will find a reflective, caring and quiet environment where they can honor the memory of their loved ones.
Participants light a candle of remembrance, join others who understand what they are going through, and listen to inspirational and comforting readings. Attendees may bring a picture or memory object in honor of their loved ones to place on a special memory table during the service. The Pathways Hospice Celebration of Light Memorial Service was created to provide a place of light and hope for those who are mourning.
“I attended the Pathways Hospice Celebration of Light Memorial Service just a few months after my wife died,” said Tom Hodges, past Celebration of Light participant. “Attending this comforting service reminded me that I was not alone in my grief. It was an important step in my healing journey.”
Pathways bereavement services are made possible through generous donations from the community to Pathways Home Health & Hospice. Pathways’ many bereavement services are available to anyone in the community and include information and referrals, loss support groups, remembrance events, grief workshops, individual counseling, educational material, and community presentations.
